Why Haus of Blues

Health & Wellbeing

The health of our cats is our top priority. All breeding cats undergo comprehensive health screening to minimize the risk of inherited conditions, including:

  • Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM)
  • Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD)

We work closely with veterinarians to ensure all cats receive regular check-ups, vaccinations, and the highest standard of care.

Raising Our Kittens

Our kittens are raised in a loving home environment where they receive constant care, attention, and early socialization. This helps them develop into confident, affectionate, and well-adjusted companions.

Each kitten:

  • Remains with their mother for at least 8-10 weeks
  • Receives age-appropriate vaccinations, deworming, flea treatment and relevant checks
  • Is microchipped and health-checked before joining their new home
  • Registered with a recognized cat association ANCATS- Pedigree papers provided

We ensure that every kitten is given the best possible start in life.

Ethical Breeding Practices

We are committed to responsible breeding practices that prioritize the wellbeing of our cats above all else. This includes:

  • Carefully selecting breeding pairs for health and temperament
  • Limiting the number of litters per queen
  • Providing lifelong support to our kitten families

Our goal is not just to breed beautiful cats, but to contribute positively to the future of the breed.

Choosing a British Short Hair

British Shorthairs are ideal for those seeking a calm and loving companion. They are known for their:

  • Gentle and easygoing temperament
  • Low-maintenance grooming needs
  • Adaptability to indoor lifestyles
  • Quiet, loyal companionship
Health & Genetic Responsibility

The health of our cats is our highest priority. All breeding cats undergo comprehensive health screening, including genetic testing and regular veterinary evaluations. We carefully select pairings to minimize the risk of hereditary conditions and ensure strong, healthy bloodlines.

Our program includes:

  • DNA testing for known genetic conditions
  • Preventative veterinary care and monitoring

Only cats that meet our strict health standards are included in our breeding program.

Selective Breading Practices

We take a selective and intentional approach to breeding. Our cats are chosen for:

  • Excellent temperament
  • Strong conformation to breed standards
  • High-quality pedigrees

We plan each litter carefully, considering compatibility, genetic diversity, and the overall goals of our program. Our queens are given ample time to rest between litters to ensure their wellbeing.

Early Development and Socialisation

Kittens are raised in a loving home environment where they receive constant care and interaction from birth. Early socialisation is a key part of our program, helping kittens develop into confident, affectionate companions.

During their time with us, kittens receive:

  • Daily handling and enrichment
  • Exposure to normal household sights and sounds
  • Age-appropriate veterinary care, including vaccinations and health checks
